  • After a brief rest and some lunch at the Lower Saddle, we were ready for the 7 mile hike out. We headed down into the upper bowl with a larger group of climbers and guides who had also summitted that day. The snow was getting soft, so the guides felt more comfortable having us roped in for the traverse across the first part of the headwall. (Photo: Dave Fernley)
  • Half way across the headwall, we glissaded down the rest of the steepest pitch -- sitting on our butt with feet in front and ice axe held behind us as a brake.
  • More downclimbing through the rocks and snow in the lower bowl -- a slow process while the guides made sure we were safe. (Photo: Dave Fernley)
  • Lou and Rob rest while waiting for the climbers above to join the group.
  • We were tired but the scenery was inspiring. Soon we were back at the trailhead.
  • Truly a memorable adventure -- hopefully more to come!
