  • On day 2 of the climbing class, it was more of the same, but harder pitches and more challenging rappels. Our guide Eric (on the left) was in his first year with Exum, but he had guided and taught survival skills in many places, including a recent assignment in McMurdo Bay, Antarctica.

  • This was a quick ride down a 50 foot cliff, which we all practiced several times.

  • On the next pitch we really put our approach shoes to the test, as Pete demonstrates. Footholds were scarce and handholds not much more obvious. Jamming our toes into small cracks was sometimes the only alternative.
